IBM announces version 10 of their Notes Domino platform, which is expected to be released in 2018.
To continue collaborated innovation and development IBM announces a strategic collaboration with the Indian based IT concern HCL Technologies.
At the same time IBM is investing in a comprehensive roadmap for their IBM Domino platform, which covers IBM Notes, Domino, Sametime and Verse.
The upcoming version in this new collaboration, Domino 10, will be a so-called major release.
Innovation of the Domino platform is planned through to 2025
IBM expects to release Domino 10 in 2018, which, given previous experience, probably means January 2019.
With this announcement, IBM confirms their continuing belief in the Domino platform. IBM has also published a long-term roadmap to drive further innovation of the platform.
The latest two Feature Releases (FP8 and FP9) also underscores the belief in the platform. With a large update of the Java in the platform and new indexing and performance features IBM clearly indicates a continuing development
Strategic collaboration with massive IT concern
If you take a closer look at the new collaboration with HCL Technologies, it becomes clear that they are not just some company of the street.
Even though the name might be relatively unknown in Denmark, it is a concern with a turnover of $17.3 mia. and revenues of $7.2 mia. (per May 2017).
HCL Technologies startet out as the R&D department in HCL Enterprices, but spun-off as an independent company in 1991. Today the company has offices in 34 countries and provide IT services to a multitude of sectors including aerospace, defence, energy, telecom and bioscience.
The roadmap for Domino 10 and beyond
In their press release, IBM thanks all its stakeholders for being a part of the journey Domino has been on and look forward to creating innovations and new possibilities. Finally they express their eagerness to get started on IBM’s roadmap for Domino and Notes for 2018 and beyond.
